George Tiller…I’d Like to Thank the Academy

Planned Parenthood has given George Tiller it’s highest award…   “Outstanding Individual Contribution to Sexual and Reproductive Health.”

According to Life Site News:george tiller

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) – The International Federation of Planned Parenthood Foundation gave slain late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller its highest award over the weekend. The international abortion business honored Tiller posthumously in Washington months after he was shot and killed in his Kansas church.

Planned Parenthood gave Tiller its Medal of Honor for “Outstanding Individual Contribution to Sexual and Reproductive Health.”

According to a Wichita News report, Tiller’s widow Jeanne accepted the award on her late husband’s behalf.

Alexander Sanger, grandson of Margaret Sanger, the woman who founded Planned parenthood and who has come under fire for having racist views for doing so, presented Tiller with the award.

And just what did Mister Tiller do, to merit such an honor?

“For 30 years, George Tiller stood up to protests, harassment and assaults, even being wounded some years ago in a shooting,” Alexander Sanger said. “He kept his clinic doors open to give a choice to women who never imagined they would ever need it — women with a wanted pregnancy that had gone terribly awry as it progressed.”

Will Tiller employees start telling their stories now?

A story is being re-told.  One that was ignored by the MSM somewhere between 1992 & 1994 when it was first published.  It was ignored because Dr. Tiller’s spokespeople were well prepared to discredit the ex-employee because she was just that – an ex-employee.  This ex-employee even admits that she was fired from Tiller’s office – no excuses as to how it was all Tiller’s fault and she is totally innocent.  Yet, the media seemed to have ignored it….until now.

Here is a portion of the text wrote in Celebrate Life, Sept/Oct 1994 issue (reprinted in 1996 on Catholic Fire blogspot) emphasis mine:

An Interesting Twist

First the strange, now the interesting.

Our commenter Dan linked to this article and it is quite thought provoking.

I wrote here about how the media was going after Dr. Tiller’s murderer pretty hard and not really saying much about the murderer of 2 soldiers in the same week, but now comes the charges that are being filed.

Two men, one Christian and the other Muslim, commit murder just one day apart in the United States. Both appear to have been motivated by their religious beliefs. The Christian murderer is Scott Roeder and his victim is Dr. George Tiller, a physician from Wichita, KS who roeder_muhammad performed late term abortions. The Muslim murderer is Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad and his victims are Pvt. William Long and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula who were new U.S. Army recruiters….

Both crimes seem to fit the definition of terrorism motivated by religious extremism……

The Muslim murder suspect, Mr. Muhammad, is charged with terrorism along with first degree murder……

On the other hand, the Christian murder suspect, Mr. Roeder, is not being charged with terrorism…….

Strange Twist

Well, this is unexpected:

The clinic where slain Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller worked will be "permanently closed," his family’s attorneys said Tuesday.

Lee Thompson and Dan Monnat, attorneys for Tiller’s family, said in a statement that "effective immediately, Women’s Health Care Services, Inc., will be permanently closed.

"We are proud of the service and courage shown by our husband and father and know that women’s health care needs have been met because of his dedication and service," the statement read. "That is a legacy that will never die."

The family said it plans to honor Tiller’s memory through work at private charities.

Tiller Well, isn’t that odd?  If Tiller was the “hero” and the “Martyr” why aren’t they naming the clinic after him?  Why aren’t they commissioning statues in his likeness?

Sounds like the family just wants it all to go away.  Could it be because of the bad memories of all the protest that happened near the clinic or could it be that the memories of all those lives that died are just too much for them.

Remember the words of Tiller’s son:  "I struggle with the manner he was welcomed into heaven."

Get a barf bag ready – you’ll need it

We have been talking about late term abortions recently because of Dr. Tillers assassination on May 31.  I say assassination because that is what it was.  It was a needless death – even serial killers like Tiller deserve better than that.

However, the gushing over this mass murderer has been a bit over the top.  Only his son seemed to understand the true reality to what is father may be facing now:087

His son, Maury, said the manner of his father’s death resulted in an unimaginable outpouring of love and support for the family.

But he added: "I struggle with the manner he was welcomed into heaven."

How sad that his son believes that.  Perhaps Tiller should have kept his kids away from Church so they wouldn’t have known to think like that.

Here is what was said at the funeral:

He also was remembered for his generosity and sense of humor.

"Dear God, get heaven ready, because Mr. Enthusiasm is coming," said Larry Borcherding, of Overland Park, who first met Tiller a half-century ago when both were students at the University of Kansas. "Heaven will never be the same. It will be a better, better place with George in it."

When is a murderer just a murderer

From the NY times:

Set up #1:

Police say the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office News-clipart were hit when a suspect drove up in a black SUV and began shooting.

Set up #2:

George Tiller, one of only a few doctors in the nation who performed abortions late in pregnancy, was shot to death here Sunday in the foyer of his longtime church as he handed out the church bulletin.

Info on the suspect #1:

The gunman, identified by the police as Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad of Little Rock, fled the scene and was arrested minutes later a short distance from the recruiting station, in a bustling suburban shopping center. The police confiscated a Russian-made SKS semiautomatic rifle, a .22-caliber rifle and a handgun from his black pickup truck.

In a lengthy interview with the police, Mr. Muhammad said he was angry about the killing of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, Chief Thomas said. Previously known as Carlos Bledsoe, Mr. Muhammad told investigators that he had converted to Islam as a teenager, Chief Thomas said.

Sebelius vs. Truth

Obama nominated Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to be the Health Secretary of the United States.  Once again, it was another Democrat who couldn’t pay taxes.

Sebelius had to explain a financial oversight to the Finance Committee. Earlier, she corrected three years’ worth of tax returns and paid more than $7,000 in back taxes to fix improper deductions.

I can’t even count how many nominees that makes now that couldn’t figure out how to pay their taxes.  But it isn’t over yet.  Sebelius has more to explain:

In a response to questions from the Senate Finance Committee made public last week, Sebelius wrote that she received $12,450 between 1994-2001 from Dr. George Tiller, one of the nation’s few late-term abortion providers.

But in addition to those campaign donations, records reviewed by The Associated Press show that Tiller gave at least $23,000 more from 2000-2002 to a political action committee Sebelius established while insurance commissioner to raise money for fellow Democrats.

What Sebelius left out: Campaign finance documents show that Tiller also contributed $10,000 to Sebelius’ Bluestem Fund PAC in September 2000, and his clinic, Women’s Health Care Services, contributed $8,000 to the PAC in December 2001 and another $5,000 in March 2002.
