If there is any doubt in your minds that the world has become a place where we eliminate our problems rather than deal with them, the following two stories should remove it.

On August 1st, a 12 year old boy from Sierra Vista, Arizona was told to clean his room.  He did not talk back.  He did not complain.  He did not argue.

Instead, he took a took a .22 caliber pistol and shot his mother 8 times, killing her.  It is unclear whether or not he ever cleaned his room.

Conlogue ruled that prosecutors had proved the boy acted intentionally and with premeditation when he shot Sara Madrid, 34, eight times on Aug. 1. The shooting happened after the boy had argued with his mother over his chores.

Madrid had left the family home after the argument, and the boy got a .22-caliber pistol from her bedroom closet, waited for her to return and then repeatedly shot her, according to court testimony.

Madrid’s live-in boyfriend of 10 years, Alfonso Munoz, witnessed the shooting and said the boy gave him the empty gun afterward.

Munoz, who helped raise the boy, said he had taught the child how to use the weapon for emergencies and self-defense.

The boy’s lawyer, Sanford Edleman, had argued that the boy did not intend to kill his mother but only wanted to get back at her for abusing him.

His aunt described him as “a docile, and sweet boy”.  Yikes.

Last Friday, 22 year old Danny Platt, of New Orleans, didn’t want to pay child support.  He felt it was unfair.  He did not complain.  He did not argue.  He did not go to court.  Instead he killed his 2 1/2 year old son. 

NEW ORLEANS —  A man who initially told police gunmen kidnapped his 2 1/2-year-old son was arrested Saturday, accused of committing an “extremely hideous” murder because he was ordered to pay child support, Police Superintendent Warren Riley said.

Robyn Paul, her husband and their three children look like the classic American family — until you find out that Tiernan, their kindergartner, is still breast-feeding.

Many people are shocked by the idea of nursing a child who is nearly 6 years old, but Paul remains

determined to do what she says is best for her child. “In this culture, breasts are viewed as sexual,” Paul said. “We use breasts to sell everything from beer to motorcycles, then a toddler is in mom’s arms nursing for what they’re supposed to be used for and everybody freaks out.”

No one is sure how many women in the United States are breast-feeding older children, but Paul said she suspects the number is higher than you might think. Most won’t admit it, she said, because of the stigma.

I’m not sure how I feel about breastfeeding your child when he is six years old.  On the one hand it sort of creeps me out, but intellectually, I know that it should be perfectly natural.  For myself, I wouldn’t be comfortable doing it.  I’m not even sure I’d be comfortable watching it.  I’ve seen 6 year olds on the playground.  They are just a little too sophisticated, in my opinion, to be doing something as sweet and innocent as suckling at mums breast.  But who knows.  Maybe Tiernan is an exception to the 6 year old boy stereotype.  Personally, I’d be afraid to let a six year olds teeth anywhere near something as sensitive as my breast tissue…but that’s me.  If mom’s okay with it, and Tiernan’s okay with it, who am I to complain.

It is a fine line between invading privacy and protecting children.  People who work in child protective services will tell you of all the rules that contradict each other when it comes to helping children.  However, when should enough be enough and the abuse stop?

Highlights from American Medical News:

The parents of a 14-year-old girl who had an abortion without their consent allege Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region repeatedly ran afoul of the state statute that requires physicians to obtain written parental permission before performing an abortion on a minor. To prove their case, the parents claim they need access to 10 years’ worth of medical records on minors who sought abortions.

The family also charges that the clinic failed to report suspected child abuse. The teenage girl became pregnant by her 21-year-old soccer coach, who posed as her father to help her obtain an abortion, according to court records.

I won’t be drawing any conclusions here.  Just thought the story was interesting in a macabre sort of way.  I already know what I think. 

Last week, a “Death Core” tour of Heavy Metal bands was on it’s way to a gig in Australia when their car veered off the road killing the lead singer of one of the bands…

THEY were the second act on a “death-core” heavy-metal tour called Christmas Carnage. The headliners were an American band called All Shall Perish.

Yesterday morning, the tour’s name proved sadly prophetic. The lead singer and a crew member of the Red Shore, from Geelong, died when the minivan they were in veered off the Pacific Highway at Moonee Beach, north of Coffs Harbour, about 7am.

An hour later, there was a nine-car pile on the highway north of Coffs Harbour.

Hmmm…interesting choice for a band name…All Shall Perish.

The hired Hertz minivan carrying the band and crew ran down an embankment and into a tree. Pronounced dead at the crash site was the 27-year-old driver, Andy, whose full name had not been released.

The lead singer, Damien Morris, 22, was taken to Coffs Harbour hospital after being trapped for an hour in the vehicle. He died later.

I have been avoiding this story because of how heart breaking it is.  The story of Caylee Anthony. 

A quick background - Caylee’s mother, Casey, "misplaced" her daughter and did not report her missing.  A month later Casey’s mother called 911 to report a bad smell in Casey’s car.  Many investigations later Caylee is missing with no missing child report until a month after her misplacement and police begin to investigate a possible homicide with Casey being the only suspect.

From ABC News:

The bones and skull found near the home of missing toddler Caylee Anthony have been determined to be the skeletal remains of the little girl, police concluded Friday.

Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony, is being held on first-degree murder charges.

I think Planned Parenthood is about to see what Karma is all about.  You know, what goes around comes around type thing.  Planned Parenthood has spent years preying on minorities and uneducated.  Now it looks like there is a new wolf in the pack.

Lila Rose is that wolf.  She has released yet another video showing a second Planned Parenthood in Indiana covering up statutory rape.  I don’t think it will be possible for Planned Parenthood to continue to say that this is just an "isolated" incident anymore.  Lila has now caught California and Indiana Planned Parenthoods doing this.  I wonder how many more tapes Ms. Rose has?  I bet Planned Parenthood is wondering the same thing.

The release of the video today led one lawmaker to urge Attorney General Steve Carter to investigate and to ask the Family and Social Services Administration to suspend Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood of Indiana.

The ongoing increase of perversion in this world is disgusting.  I usually pass on reporting these stories, but after recent conversations I feel it important that the real truth be told.  It appears that people either do not believe this stuff exist in the large numbers that it does, or they don’t see anything wrong with it because free love prevails.

More than 170 people around the globe, including at least 61 in the United States, have been arrested in a major operation targeting international child pornographers, officials said Friday.

Authorities found connections between producers, distributors and customers in nearly 30 countries as a single investigation grew to a global inquiry into the dark corners of brutality and child abuse.

"This joint EU-U.S. coordinated effort began with the discovery in Europe of a father who was sexually abusing his young daughters and producing images of that abuse," Mukasey said.

Further investigation showed a number of online child porn rings. Some included dangerous offenders who not only traded child pornography but also sexually abused children, the officials said.

A Postal Service official said ringleaders primarily targeted prepubescent female victims to satisfy their customers but noted that other groups produce photos and videos of boys and girls of all ages – or even infants.

I don’t know about you, but almost nothing shocks me anymore.  Things do, however, continue to break my heart.  What is wrong with us?

I know I’ve been harping on our youth lately, and I definitely think they need some straightening out.  But there is a wrong way and a right way.  The following story is NOT what I had in mind.

In the 1950’s, a reform school in Mariana Florida, took the idea of “reform” to the extreme.  From Timesonline:

An investigation has started into the discovery of 32 anonymous graves at a Florida reform school after claims that orphans and tearaways were flogged and tortured to death by guards there.

The reform school opened in 1900 and thousands of young offenders have passed through its doors in the past 108 years. Many of those who ended up there did so simply because they had run away from home, some to escape domestic abuse.

Former residents of the Florida School for Boys in Marianna believe that the shallow graves, which date to the 1950s and 1960s, contain the crushed skulls and broken bones of fellow inmates, confirming that staff meted out brutal punishment to boys as young as 8 for such “crimes” as singing or eating an extra pancake for breakfast.

I was thinking more along the lines of a good talking to, or maybe taking away their Ipods til they saw reason…apparently, the Florida School for Boys had other ideas.

I’ve posted twice this week on the downfall of our youth.  I think I may have found one of the reasons our kids are in so much trouble.  Check this out.  In Michigan, no matter how little homework you do, no matter how many tests you get 0 on, no matter how many days you skip…you can’t fail.  Ever.

At public schools in Grand Rapids, Mich., high school students will no longer receive “F”s but instead will earn the letter “H” when their work falls woefully short.

Superintendent Bernard Taylor told ABCNews.com that the “H” stands for “held,” and is a system designed to give students a second chance on work that was not up to par.

Yes,  you’ve read that correctly.  No more “F”s.   Now as the mother of 5 boys, I can tell you, if they aren’t doing their homework, and they aren’t studying for their tests, giving them a second chance, and then a third and then a fourth isn’t going to make any difference. 

It will definitely teach them something.  It will teach them that they can do whatever they want and there won’t be any consequences.  Oh, wait a minute!   We’re already teaching them that.  Having sex but don’t want babies?   No worries, no consequences.  Use birth control.  Used birth control, birth control failed, got pregnant?  No worries, no consequences.  Get an abortion.  

Lying?  Cheating?  Lazy?  Irresponsible?  No need to change YOUR behavior.  We’ll change OURS.

Yet more examples of our youth losing their minds…and their souls.  An 18 year old couple bludgeoned their infant daughter to death.  They claim she was possessed by the devil. (Video)

According to the arrest report in Rusk County, in east Texas, 18-year-old Jessica Carson admitted to the Texas Rangers that she was present when her fiancee, 18-year-old Blaine Milam performed  an exorcism on her baby. Carson said they thought the baby, Amora Bain Carson, had demons living inside of her.

In the report, Carson says she and Milam drove to a pawn shop to sell the tools after the baby died. They say they were trying to get money for a priest to perform real exorcism services on the baby.

The baby also had more than a dozen bite marks on her body.
