Bash Back Bashes Our Freedom To Worship

Unless there are illegal activities going on in a place of worship the law should be to respect the people who are there. We are supposed to be able to Worship without fear. However, that hasn’t been the case for the past several decades. Now we have a deaf media. The story I am about to tell you is almost impossible to find on a main stream newspaper or website. I even searched the local newspapers in the area and could barely find anything on this. To me, this is UnAmerican.

From TV 6 in Upper Michigan (on of the few places that had the info):

Reports say that protesters were outside the church beating on buckets and using megaphones to shout “Jesus is a homo” as church-goers went in for morning services. According to those reports, half of the protesting group was dressed to blend in with the church-goers and entered the church.

Once inside they reportedly pulled fire alarms, handed out pamphlets and yelled at parishioners. They also were said to have stormed the pulpit and held up a large rainbow colored flag that read “It’s Okay To Be Gay! Bash Back”.

This sounds bad - but the Catholic websites seem to be able to obtain just a tad bit more information. I think it important to note that the Church is not a Catholic one. It is an evangelical Church called Mount Hope Church in Lansing Michigan.

During the service the protesters outside the church were beating on buckets, shouting “Jesus was a homo” on a megaphone and carrying an upside-down pink cross. They distributed fliers to passersby.

When the signal was given the protesters inside the church rose from their seats and began loudly to disrupt the service. The fire alarm was pulled inside the church, protesters stormed the pulpit and a huge rainbow-colored flag was unfurled with the inscription, “IT’S OKAY TO BE GAY! BASH BACK!”

The church was vandalized, obscenities were shouted and worshippers were confronted. According to Right Michigan the protestors in their demonstration also used condoms, glitter, confetti, and pink fabric. A video camera wielded by the homosexualists attempted to capture violent reactions from members of the congregation, of which there were none. Right Michigan also reports that approximately an hour after the demonstration two of the demonstrators were found by security in a public restroom in the church together. There were no arrests.

Bash Back claims they did this because they believe the Church is:

The Mount Hope Church is a deplorable, anti-queer mega-church in
Lansing, Michigan. The church works to institutionalize transphobia and
homophobia through several repulsive projects including organized “ex-gay” conferences and so-called “hell houses”, which depict queers, trannies and womyn who seek abortions as the horrors. Mt. Hope is complicit in the repression of queers in Michigan and beyond.

What I find the most depressing is if you go to the Bash Back website, the details of what happened confirm the information in the Catholic article. For some reason TV6 chose to "dumb down" its article.

Mount Hope Church had a response to Bash Back -

"The leadership of Mount Hope Church does not attempt to identify the church as antihomosexual, anti-choice, or right wing. The church does take the Bible at face value and believes what the Bible says to be the truth. According to the Bible, Mount Hope Church believes homosexuality to be a sin, just as fornication, stealing, drunkenness, and lying are sins. No sin greater than the next."

Another important fact to point out. As with all cowardly anarchists, they have their faces covered when protesting, in parades and on their website pictures. They are too afraid to show the world who they are. To me, that doesn’t say they are proud to be gay.
