Planned Parenthood/Pro-Choice cares only about their pockets

By Valerie Jane | July 13, 2007

They are still whining.  They still want special treatment.  They still don’t care about the women; they only want money in their pockets, not money leaving their pockets.  From People’s Weekly World:

As of Aug. 28, a new state law backed by Missouri Right to Life requires Planned Parenthood reproductive health clinics to become “ambulatory surgical centers,” at an estimated $1 million cost, and bars anyone associated with abortion procedures from providing information on sex education to schools. However, abstinence-only programs will be permitted and funded.

Republican Gov. Matt Blunt signed the bill July 5. Changing the designation of reproductive health clinics forces Planned Parenthood to expand hallways leading to operating and recovery rooms.

Poor Planned Parenthood.  The Government is forcing them to update their clinics to be just like every other surgical center.  Oh - This law is www.health-in-action.orgnot for ALL reproductive health clinics as this article leads you to believe, but it is for ALL reproductive health clinics that DO abortion.  Get it?  When a surgery is done at a location that does surgery it will be called an ambulatory SURGICAL center.  Why do abortion advocates think they can have special treatment?  Why are they willing to put women’s health at risk with hallways that are too small for an EMT to get to and remove a patient in need of emergency care?  Why are they willing to have doorways not large enough to comply with the fire codes?  I did notice that this article didn’t tell you why the hallways need to be expanded.

So, you may be asking what the requirements are for an Ambulatory Surgical Center.  According to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title www.access.gpo.gov42, Public Health, Part 416 Ambulatory Surgical Services

(1)The definition of Ambulatory surgical Center:

Ambulatory surgical center or ASC means any distinct entity that operates exclusively for the purpose of providing surgical services to patients not requiring hospitalization, has an agreement with CMS to participate in Medicare as an ASC, and meets the conditions set forth in subparts B and C of this part.

(2)The physical environment must meet certain standards such as:

-Must be functional and sanitary
-Must comply with Life Safety Code of the National Fire Protection Association
-Must have personnel be trained in emergency equipment and CPR

(3)The medical staff must meet certain standards such as:

-Must be legally and professionally qualified for their positions
-Medical staff privileges must be periodically reappraised and the scope of procedures performed in the ASC must be periodically reviewed and amended as appropriate.
-Must have policies and procedures ready for medical personnel, other than the physicians, for overseeing and evaluating their clinical activities.

(4)A RN (registered nurse) must be available for emergency treatment whenever there is a patient in the ASC.

(5)Medical Records:

-The ASC must develop and maintain a system for the proper collection, storage, and use of patient records.
-The ASC must maintain a medical record for each patient. Every record must be accurate, legible, and promptly completed. www.ppkm.org

(6)The ASC must provide drugs and biologicals in a safe and effective manner, in accordance with accepted professional practice, and under the direction of an individual designated responsible for pharmaceutical services.

(7)Laboratory and radiological Services must meet federal requirements or if services are sent elsewhere that place must be certified.

Why aren’t other surgical clinics complaining about complying with the law?  Why is it only Planned Parenthood and other abortion mills that seem incapable of following basic regulations?  How much remodeling has to be  done for it to cost $1 million?  (An article in the Columbia Missourian quoted Planned Parenthood Chief Executive Officer Peter Brownlie as saying it will cost substantially more than $1 million.)  And if it is just the cost of remodeling the size of the hallways and doorways that is the problem, why don’t they relocate, or rebuild?  Something tells me architecture isn’t the real problem here.

It ain’t easy being a multi million dollar corporation today.

(Last picture is of the South Kansas City Center PP.  It *might* be one that needs to remodel, but I -understandably - cannot find a list of which PP clinics in the KS, MO area do abortions.  I only know it is one clinic in Columbia and one clinic in Kansas that are affected by the new law.  So it is substantially more than $1 million to have only 2 clinics comply with laws.)

I think you’re right in thinking it’s more than a need to remodel…they just don’t want to make the effort to comply b/c it’s really not about being “safe and legal” it’s about the almighty dollar. They don’t want to relocate b/c than they wouldn’t be in an area where the demographics are good for their eugenic policy. I’m amazed it has taken this long to finally find state governments and inspection agencies who are making them comply with basic surgical center laws!

It’s amazing that women feel this is safe when there is nothing governing the safety of this. With no laws requiring them to comply, there is virtually no legal action that can be taken for the minor injuries. (Minor to the polititians, but major to the women that have to go through it!) Also, I may be wrong, but if the picture is one of the PP that needs to comply there is something fishy going on. That building doesn’t look too old to me. Why wouldn’t the hallways and doorways meet the saftey codes for the National Fire Protection Association? Recent construction (within 30 years give or take 5) for public places follow those guidelines in their designs.
