Too Broke to Bring up Adoption

By Valerie Jane | June 16, 2007

On May 23rd I commented on Planned Parenthoods 2005-2006 annual report.  Tom McClusky broke down the figures but said there were no numbers of adoption referrals available for 2005.   It turns out that the word adoption doesn’t show up at all in this report.  In CNSNews.com:

The fact that the organization chose not to release a number for adoptions in http://www.charitablechoices.org/charities/CCSanDiego/questions.aspthe latest fiscal year, (Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council) said, meant that “we can only assume the number was so low that Planned Parenthood didn’t want to embarrass itself by revealing it.”

“You will not find the word ‘adoption’ anywhere in the PPFA’s 2005-2006 Annual Report,” Scott (Douglas Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International)
observed.

In the report it also shows that Planned Parenthood not only made a profit of 55.8 million dollars (Total income 902.8 million - Total expenses 847.0 million) but is also receiving 12% more in tax dollars.  How is this possible?

The report showed that income from clinics was down about $1.5 million from the previous year — the first such decline in the organization’s 50-year history — while donations also fell by $3.6 million.

“The bottom line is that Planned Parenthood is losing donations, its clinic income is down, and you and I are being forced to pay more….

Now in a previous post I commented on a California PP that is claiming poverty.  In the CNSnews article they show that PP across the nation are having problems:

(Jim Sedlak, executive director of Stop Planned Parenthood) said, “Planned Parenthood is hurting. It is closing down clinics faster than it can open new ones, and its clinic income is down.

How can a company that made a 55.8 million dollar profit be hurting and closing clinics?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:BarksScrooge.jpgDid I forget to mention that:

PPFA had net assets valued at $839.8 million, of which $330.9 million was unrestricted and another $116.6 million was temporarily restricted.”

When my son lies he gets in trouble.  When Planned Parenthood lies the government gives them more money.  And why do they do this?

In a recent statement, PPFA President Cecile Richards argued that more funding was needed for its work.

“Currently, more than 17 million women in the U.S. need publicly-funded family planning services, and there is not enough funding to meet the need,” she said. “Nearly 750,000 teenagers in the U.S. will become pregnant this year.

“As the leading advocate and provider of reproductive health care, Planned Parenthood knows that affordable health care services and access to medically accurate health information and education are the keys to reducing teen pregnancy and to building strong, healthy families,” Richards said.

Planned Parenthood has been the “leading advocate and provider” for a very long time now.  Teenagers are still getting pregnant by the hundred thousands.  Teenager and http://www.beatitudehouse.org/about_attach.htmyoung adults make up for 9.1 million new STI’s every year (Guttmacher Institute).  They performed a record breaking number of abortions last year.  And appears it did not refer one person to adoption.  I think it is time for a change.  Our children deserve better than this.

Liar, Liar pants on fire……..  Planned Parenthood should be ashamed of themselves.  Making a profit like this and then wanting MORE money.  Who are the needy and who are the greedy misers?
