Catholic Bashing - The Last Great Prejudice
By Valerie Jane | June 13, 2007
It is amazing how sensitive people are now a days. I watch some great old movies and think, “There is now way they could do that anymore.” Which movies am I talking about? Blazing Saddles comes to mind. “The new sheriff is a nig….” - that would never be done today. How about these: The Wizard of Oz - Can’t call the ‘little people’ munchkins
anymore; The Princess Bride - Why does the princess have to wait for her true love? She would be kicking some butt and it would be the “Kill Bill Bride”; A Christmas Story - They gave a *gulp* gun to a child?!; In the Heat of the Night - A white cop calling a black cop “boy”? ; Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - I think that title says it all. Then we would have to add any Monty Python movie or show, Mel Brooks pre 1985 movies and the original cast of Saturday Night live and I think you understand what I am talking about.
But there is one prejudice that is still allowed. Catholic bashing. Most people don’t see anything wrong with it. The Eucharist is the actual body and blood of Christ? Laughable. They pray to Mary and actually believe she was a virgin? Yea, right. The list is never ending.
I have put up with Catholic bashing my whole life. Sometimes I don’t even notice it when I hear it because it happens so much. Then Rosie O’Donnell joined the view. For someone that wants respect for her lifestyle, she sure as hell doesn’t respect mine.
The Catholic League put an advertisement in the op-ed pages of yesterday’s New York Times. Here are some highlights: (words are mine, not from the ad
)
Behar offended Muslims on October 18 and appologized.
O’Donnell offended Chinese-Americans on December 5 and apoligized.
Walters allowed these two bigots to verbally bash the Catholic faith on 15 different occasions in less than a year and we are still waiting for our apologies. Which will never come.
You think this world is PC? Only if the liberals agree with you. If they don’t - you’re fair game!
