Millions of money and still broke?
By Valerie Jane | June 12, 2007
California Planned Parenthood is claiming poverty and wants more of the taxpayers money. From ChicoER.com:
“Planned Parenthood held a bake sale in Chico’s City Plaza Thursday to make a
statement.
The family-planning organization needs more money and wanted to show it’s ready to do whatever it takes to keep serving clients, said Christopher Lee, vice president of public policy and advocacy for Planned Parenthood’s Shasta-Diablo affiliate. ”
“Planned Parenthood and other organizations that offer family planning and related medical care (including abortions) for people on Medi-Cal rely on state and federal funds to operate. ”
“Luann Ciccone, director of the Planned Parenthood center in Chico, said as the city has grown, so has the center, but a lack of funds has made it impossible to provide all the services that people want and need. “
So, Planned Parenthood is broke and needs more of our money. Wait a minute, didn’t there annual report just come out?
For the year ending 2006:
Total Revenue - 902.8 million
Total expenses - 847.0 million
Excess of revenue - 55.8 million
Total assets - 839.8 million
The company has an excess of 55.8 million and the California Planned Parenthood has to do bake sales to make a point that they need more money? Huh? Can’t they sell off some of the 839.8 million assets? 34% of their income comes from tax payer money, isn’t that enough? I think someone in the IRS needs to explain a few things to the Planned Parenthood accounting department.
