Right to Choose; as long as you agree with me.

By Valerie Jane | August 25, 2007

The leftist side believes in Choice. Just as long as that Choice doesn’t contradict the leftist side. Understand?

I think my favorite leftist example of this is the concept of charity. They want everyone to give until it hurts. What if you want to give to a Crisis Pregnancy Center? Well, then you shouldn’t give. The charity must be okayed by the liberals, so you will be correct in your choice.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SocialismThe liberals seem to be pushing for a socialistic government.  They want property and wealth to be controlled by the government.  You can’t tax the rich enough and you can’t give the poor enough.  But there are serious problems with this.  The rich get angry that they are doing all the work while the poor become addicted to the handouts.

An example would be how the Catholic Church loves the socialistic ideals, but then get confused when these governments begin to turn against their teachings.  When it is the government that is controlling the concept of right and wrong we become subject to someone else’s opinion of morality and the Church is left behind.  The people become the children to the parental government.  Our lives are now controlled by someone else who makes all the decisions for us.

Even in our so-called capitalist society, we are seeing the downfall of the socialistic idea of how to help the poor.  We are not helping them by giving them food stamps, free housing and money without asking for anything in return.  The welfare system is probably one of the more corrupt government programs.  People who temporarily need the assistance cannot receive it because of the people who are using this assistance permanently.  Not to mention all the fraud that happens.

Habitat for Humanity requires that the new owners of the house being built put in 250 www.abbeville.com/.../0789208547Interiors.htmhours of work.  Then when the family moves in, they are still responsible for the interest free mortgage payments.  “When you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but when you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime.”  The families that received help from Habitat have a feeling of accomplishment and pride.  They helped in helping their loved ones.  But with welfare, you just receive the money without any feelings of dignity.

Then there are some who are pushing for National Health Care.  On paper it looks like a good idea, but I’m afraid the cost will be too much.  Who is going to go to medical school and give up their early adulthood studying when there is no reward in the end.  The government isn’t going to pay the doctors what the top doctors would want.  The hospitals would receive a specified amount of money that they can use in their treatments.  What happens if the money runs out because a very sick person needed a lot of treatment?  It is the public that is going to pay with their health.  How many hospitals do you think will want to treat the seriously ill if that means they will run out of money?  Kinda scary if you think that our health would end up in the middle of a political debate.

The left is going to have to realize that we don’t want the rich to be forced to give to the poor.  We want the rich to help the poor and we want the poor to help themselves.  It won’t work any other way.  Charity should not be forced upon us.  We should be willing to give to the charity.  If not, then we are just paying more into taxes.

The left doesn’t want my charity to go to a Crisis Pregnancy Center.  They want it to go to Planned Parenthood.  At least for now, I have that choice.
