When Will They Learn?
By Valerie Jane | June 19, 2008
This is from the FoxNews website:
A Massachusetts high school is facing a pregnancy boom with 17 girls entering summer vacation expecting babies in what some have called a pregnancy pact.
Officials said that beginning last fall a large group of girls started asking the school clinic for pregnancy tests, the site said.
The pregnancy rate at the 1,200-student school is four times higher than the previous year, and officials were shocked to learn that men in their 20s had fathered some of the babies, Time.com said.
"We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy," Sullivan told Time.com.
According to the latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nation’s teen birth rate rose in 2006 for the first time in 14 years.
Ablow said the example in Massachusetts should be heeded as a warning.
"In a world that is so technologically based, there will be predictable push-back from young people," he said. "They want to remind themselves that they are alive and human. One of the ways people do this is that they reproduce."
Parts that I left out: Jamie Lynn Spears deciding to keep her baby instead of aborting is the reason for this. Lack of non-parental consent contraception could have prevented this. And of course the need for even more sex education in high school.
1st point: Where are the parents of these children and why is it Spears such a huge role model that these girls can confuse right from wrong?
2nd point: Maybe the parents aren’t there because parents guardianship is being slowly removed. Telling children that their parents are wrong, so go ahead and go against their wishes is not the way to go. And these same people have the audacity to act surprised that we are loosing complete control of our teenagers!
3rd point: They’ve been screaming for more sex education and easier access to contraception since the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. See here for previous article. The only thing this has accomplished is more unwanted pregnancies, more abortions and more STD’s. This isn’t rocket science to figure out that the idea of more sex education has had over 100 years to prove itself and it is failing, miserably.
4th point: Why do teens feel like they aren’t alive? Because life is technology based? I don’t think so. Ablow needs to go back to school if he thinks that is it. Kids have to prove they are human because society is treating them like property and not people!
5th point: What do these people plan to do with the 40% of teenaged girls that have HPV? The virus that causes cervical cancer. What are they planning on doing to help the kids that have gonorrhea and syphilis? These hit an all time high last year. Contraception’s do not cure these problems. An unwanted pregnancy doesn’t cause disease and death. Free sex does. What are they going to throw out at our kids in an attempt to cure these? Condoms are not affective on STD’s that are transmitted by skin to skin contact.
When will we learn that we are slowly killing our children?
