Only Licensed Physicians can perform abortions

Fact:
According to the CDC, just about anyone can perform an abortion as long as they have some connection to a licensed physician. In their MMWR Abortion Surveillance Report released on November 23, 2007 it defines abortion as:
Legal induced abortion was defined as a procedure, performed by a licensed physician or someone acting under the supervision of a licensed physician, that was intended to terminate a suspected or known intrauterine pregnancy and to produce a nonviable fetus at any gestational age.
They do not clarify what they mean by “someone”. Does it have to be a RN, LPN, CNA or Receptionist? It doesn’t say which leaves this definition of abortion open to interpretation. Also, how many abortions are performed on just a suspected pregnancy?
