Wanna Be Abortionist Free Ride Is Over

When it comes to abortionists everyone seems to turn a blind eye when one has multiple complaints against them.  Why?  Because it is in the Pro-Choice bible that no one is allowed to stop an abortionist from doing their "job" no matter what.  Even if that person has multiple complaints, malpractice lawsuits, is a convicted sex offender or doesn’t have a medical license.

For the most part, the only way to stop these people is when Pro-Life organizations make enough noise that someone has to do something.  This is usually without much media attention.

On Monday abortion clinic owner/manager Bertha Bugarin pled no contest to at least 7 felony counts which included practicing medicine without a license and grand theft.  Her sister, Raquel Bugarin, who was facing the same charges has already made a plea agreement with prosecutors.  Jury selection was supposed to begin on December 8, however the no contest plea means this will not be necessary.  This also means that the "dirty laundry" will never be made public.  Not that the majority of the media would have picked up on it.  Investigations began only after multiple women were hospitalized after abortions from their clinics.

Here is the shocker.  She had been in the abortion business since the early 1990’s.  The Pro-Life organization, Operation Rescue, had been complaining about the shoddy medical practice of her clinics for over a decade with no one investigating.

Another shocker.  The clinics she co-owned were all in poor Hispanic neighborhoods.  At one time there were 11 clinics.  And if your not sitting down you will want to for this one.  They paid homeless people to distribute coupons to these Hispanic women for low cost abortions.  They also placed ads in local newspapers, billboards and television.  They weren’t hiding. 

In the early ’90’s Bugarin went into business with Nicholas Braemer.  Guess what - In 1987 he performed an abortion that only removed the arm of the unborn baby.  The Mother "expelled" the baby the next day.  He admitted this to the medical board in 1994.  He received 5 years probation, which he violated at least 3 times.  In 1999 the board accused Braemer of leaving the cranium and placenta in a Mother during a 1997 abortion.  The woman spent a month in the hospital getting her bowels repaired.  It is obvious that the medical community knew of the shoddy work of this abortionist.  He surrendered his license in 2000.

Someone else that Bugarin went into business with was Mohamed Dia.  He surrendered his medical license in 1999.  In 1996 he had taken a patient to the hospital in his van.  He had perforated her uterus and she was bleeding to death.  Instead of calling for an ambulance, he drove her himself.

Abortionist Glenn Edward Miller was also a co-worker starting around 2003.  He lost his license in 2005 due to substance abuse.  He was on probation for performing abortions while under the influence when he started working with Bugarin.  Also, He had settled a medical malpractice lawsuit for performing an abortion on a woman who was not pregnant.  Her uterus was perforated in the process.

I saved the best co-worker for last.  Laurence Reich.  Anyone active in pro-life apologetics knows this name.  In 1982 he was put on probation for 10 years for the sexual abuse of 3 of his patients.  In 2000 he was accused of sexually abusing 2 more patients.  His conviction was expunged after a 1 year probationary period and $100 fine.  Yet again, no outrage from the wanna be feminists.

The list above is not the full list of doctors Bugarin worked with but I think you get the point that she didn’t hang out with scrupulous people.  Something else about this case that is interesting is Bugarin never had a medical license.  So, the medical board had no recourse.  This is why she gets to go to prison and all the others just get probation for injuring women.

Most of the information I find on this subject is from pro-life organizations.  However, I have been able to confirm their stories in the few reports that have been made.  Go here, here and here for the ones I’ve found.

To be fair, when Bugarin was arrested, the national media did report the story, somewhat.  However, as far as I can tell, there was no mention of the amount of malpractice that was happening for years.  Once the story had no where else to go but to the abortionists she worked with the story disappeared.
