I just love how the White House will pardon a Turkey or two for Thanksgiving. It is very cute and a good way to see the President as a regular person.
Some words from the Pres:
This is a tradition that dates back to the presidency of Harry Truman. Just to be safe, I will be pardoning a second bird — – in the unlikely event the main act chickens out. Turkeys are not only the ones on edge this morning — you see, it turns out the Rose Garden is Barney’s turf. So the press corps is a little nervous, as well.
This is my final Thanksgiving as the President. Over the past eight years, I have been given many reasons to be thankful. I’m thankful to our men and women in uniform and I am incredibly proud to have been their Commander-in-Chief. I am thankful for the armies of compassion volunteers who feed the hungry and shelter the poor. I am thankful for the teachers and nurses and pastors police officers and firefighters, and others who serve their neighbors and better their communities.
I’m thankful for the wonderful and supporting family that I have been blessed with. I’m grateful to Laura for her love. I’m grateful for two Thanksgiving miracles who were blessed — who we were blessed with 27 years ago: Barbara and Jenna. I’m thankful for the fact that my mother is doing well. And this year we’re looking forward to having another place at our Thanksgiving table with a son-in-law, and I’m thankful for Henry.
Most of all, I thank the American people for the tremendous privilege of serving as the President.
I wish all Americans a happy Thanksgiving, and may God bless you.
Happy Thanksgiving America!
Feel free to share why you are Thankful this year!

Hi Patricia -
Every day is a good day to be Thankful!
If you are still around next year, remind us to put up a post for your Thanksgiving! It’s always nice to recognize every body!
You have a lot to be Thankful for! And I really hope you tell you Dad as often as you can how wonderful he is.
I’m thankful that I will be celebrating 3 days of Thanksgiving! All with friends and family. Today we are having one of my closest friends over for Thanksgiving along with his family. Tomorrow we are going to another friends house for a “left over” feast. And Saturday we are off to my sisters house for my family’s Thanksgiving. (we all live in different states so its hard to get together on the actual day.) The finale involves tons of Syrian food as my sisters-n-laws are Syrian. I’m addicted to Taboleah and Kibbi. (I have no idea if I spelled those right!)
I am thankful for tulips in February…
Chocolate Donuts…
That first cup of coffee in the morning…
Warm towels…
Down Comforters…
The sound of all six of my kids home and annoying the heck out of each other and me…
Bunnies…
And all the wonderful people in the world that just make my life better…
Thank you God. Thank you very, very much.
