My choice is life
By Valerie Jane | August 24, 2007
My choice is life. I choose to allow people to live. The unborn. The disabled. The elderly. The criminals. This is actually a very easy way to be. Most ‘feminist’ would tell you otherwise, but they are wrong.
In my beliefs I am not a hypocrite. The answer is always life. But when it comes to the ‘liberal’ way of thinking it depends on what the topics are. And sometimes the topics get a bit confused and nothing makes sense anymore.
Let me explain. Here is the thought process for the majority Pro-Choice/liberal crowd. The unborn – it is a women’s choice to decide if the pregnancy will continue. The disabled – why would anyone want to live that way. It would be best for the mother to choose to terminate the pregnancy if found out ahead of time. If the disabled is born, then euthanasia should be a choice in order to prevent any long term pain. The elderly – The family should be allowed to choose euthanasia. That way they will not be in pain anymore and (the family) can move on. The criminals – They deserve rehabilitation. Lethal injection is far too painful and is in violation of the cruel and unusual punishment amendment.
So, for the criminals it is cruel and unusual punishment, but for the disabled and elderly it is a way for them to ease their pain. The method for terminating the life is the same. Why, then, is euthanasia wrong for the person who has violated the laws of society? This person had to commit a violent crime in order to be on death row. What did the disabled do? I guess it is just uncomfortable for us to look at them. What did the elderly do? I guess it is just uncomfortable for us to take care of them. So, let’s do a brief review. It is a ‘choice’ for the disabled (the choice is usually made by someone other than the disabled person – Terry Shiavo comes to mind.) and it is a ‘choice’ for the elderly (the choice is usually made by a family member or a doctor). It is ‘cruel’ for the criminal (this choice is made by ‘the people’ in accordance to the constitution.)
Now for the unborn. It is the mother’s choice. Wait a minute here. Has anyone noticed a trend? When it comes to choice, it is not the person who is doing the dying that has the choice. How is that a ‘choice’ for the one who’s paying the biggest price? No one is perfect. Some people have handicaps – Stephen Hawkins - some people are old and need someone to take care of them –Nancy didn’t give up on Ronald Reagan - why is it okay for people to choose death for everyone else unless it is someone on death row? This doesn’t make any sense. Choice is only a choice to the people who don’t want to be bothered. When it comes to the criminal, the people who scream choice have nothing to do with the criminal anyway so I suppose it doesn’t really matter.
Another trend I have noticed is the people who are at the other end of ‘choice’ usually don’t have much of a voice to speak for themselves. The unborn cannot speak up for their rights. The disabled have a voice, but because of stereotyped prejudices no one listens to them. They don’t know what is the best for them, right? The elderly are usually too weak to say anything. But the criminals, they have more than a voice. They have their attorney,
the media, the ‘choice’ crowd and Hollywood protecting them. They can scream and scream until some ‘kind hearted’ person claims cruel and unusual punishment. My only guess is that the majority of the people on death row are there because of murder. So, once again the person who did the dying doesn’t have a choice and the person who did the killing is totally justified under the constitution.
Now let me explain the other side. Here is the thought process for the majority (or loudest) Pro-life/conservative crowd. The unborn – life. The disabled – life. The elderly – life. The criminals – life.
My choice is life. Simple, isn’t it?
