   Okay, the last three? Very funny.
   The first one, cute.

   The second one. ????? I always feel like I’m looking at “modern art” when I read these funnies. Like everyone else is “getting” it, and all I see is a red plank!

   Oh yeah! I adore Lucy. I think she and Carol Burnett had the most influence on my particular brand of humor! I love that they just didn’t care if people thought they were nuts! Be a Clown, Be a Clown, Be a Clown!

   Maybe the title of the cartoon will explain something:

   Pip,

   No. That doesn’t help. Why is she bloody? What’s with the weird things on their faces? Why is it funny? I don’t know. This seems to be a particular artist/cartoonist, and I gotta say, I’m either old or I’m missing something.

   Lucy? Funny.
   Weird stick people that have things on their faces and make no sense? Not so much.

   What weird things on their faces? I don’t see them. Besides the blood. The idea I guess was that the character is such a mess, it’s like she just came out of a fight. I sometimes feel that way. You know, like the week just totally kicked your butt and you feel at the end of the week “well okay, I just gotta wipe this blood off my face and keep on trucking!”

    What weird things? Those rectangle things that go across the middle of their heads! And yeah, I get that the blood indicates a hard week, but I don’t find humor in it. It made me think of Raes picture of the abortion doctor. It was just creepy…

    To each his own I guess. I mean, I’m probably the only one that feels this way so don’t take it personally. I don’t mean to razz on you. Really. I just feel like a dolt whenever I see that particular artists cartoons, cuz they never make me laugh, and always make me scratch my head and ask “Huh?”

    I feel the same way. But when I look back, there was a lot of things my Mom didn’t get when I was younger. I think it is just a sign that we are getting older. We can’t help it if our sophistication is higher than the rest.

    Yeah, like those two dots are natalie’s eyes and those two lines form her mouth. So she is talking and smiling in the cartoon. And the dude’s mouth is obviously in an expression of horror…see?
